Business opened in August of 1977 in a small 800 square ft. garage that included both showroom and installation garage. It was a one man band operated by today’s company President, Bob Smeigh, Sr., who did all the selling as well as installs. With great success came the need for larger facilities that included a gas station and 4 wheel drive shop. This is our current “Brick & Mortar” location in Central PA.
With great team of people, our business continued to grow. Some years later, the gas business was closed. To the west side of the building, we added a showroom and warehouse .
After that, a second addition was added to the east side the building to include more warehouse space and a state-of-the-art installation facility.
In 2005, we purchased another building right across the street to add more warehouse space, and we added a spray booth do spray-in bedliner's.
2009 was another banner year! In April of 2009, the company went from a sole proprietorship to a corporation with Bob Sr. and two sons, Bob Jr and Shawn, leading the charge in the new millennium.
"All throughout the years of business, I’ve seen many things come and go. But, the founding principles of the company are the same today as they were when I opened the shop in 1977. Give the customer the best products at a fair price and back it up with outstanding customer service!" -- Bob Smeigh, Sr.
What our customers have to say
RV4x4 does it with style! A little shout out and many thanks to Bob Jr., Rich, Brian, Shawn, and Gary, (okay one to Dave to but he was fishin!). These guys at RV4x4 have bent over backwards with my first lift for my '05 F-150. True professionals and the definition of "customer first!" attitude. My initial lift was a 3? kit from Skyhacker (no, the 'h' was intentional). That kit had add-a-leaf in the rear and new springs and struts for the front. It gave me the lift for the Procomp 33's, but it mashed down my front suspension almost max, making bad downward angles for the half-shafts and steering. It was extremely stiff. But the worst part was that within 2 weeks, both front struts blew their seals. They fought with Skyhacker and found one (the rest were backordered). and replaced the front left. Seven days later, and before the second one came in, the newly replaced strut blew out. All this happened with normal driving! Bob Jr. understood my pain, and we worked out a very reasonable upgrade to a true suspension lift from SuperLift! This kit came with add-a-leaf for the rear and brackets for the front. It made use of the OEM struts and springs, and leveled the truck out perfectly giving 4.5? of lift over all. The ride is like stock, and the lift kit is awesome. Drive axles and steering angles are back to normal, thanks to the new spindles and frame brackets. Check out their website at www.rv4x4.com, or give them a call at 717-697-8418.
I wanted to send a quick note of "Thanks" for taking care of things relative to my Pro Comp wheels! You guys have always been great to deal with and we look forward to sending more business your way into the future, not just our own stuff since I know we'll always have 4x4 toys in our garage, but also recommendations to all our friends and contacts. Thanks for always giving us the very best in customer service!!
It was great to see you again, and congrats again on the new baby and new home! - Tess & Scott Cunningham
Your son gives great customer service. I've only been dealing with your garage for about a year but everything he does for me I am pleased with and he is reasonable with the cost of materials and labor fees. Customer service is a lost art these days and I just wanted to comment on how well your business takes care of me. - Gary in Mech
